Another upgrade of the German Power Plant completed

2007.08.23

Realization of the project started on the 4th of June was initially handled by 32 persons, however, the scope of work required more personnel and the group was expanded in July to 45 employees. Due to the fact that there were more than a few dozen persons working in the boiler chamber per shift, the work was performed simultaneously on many levels in a two-shift system. The repairs involved replacement of boiler tight walls between the lower header level and +27,8m. Initially, all persons worked as fitters, repairmen or firemen to prepare the tight wall tube panels for dismantling. Most of the welding work was performed in the boiler lower section at + 28 m. Existing membrane walls were cut out, contact surfaces were prepared, new panels were installed and joined to the existing tube sections. In the hopper area, the existing header pipes were attached to the new boiler wall panels. Installation of panels required correct adjustment of the panels against the old and already installed wall tubes, proper alignment, temporary fitting, then, attachment of the screen tubes to compensate for diameter differences between the old and new tubes. When the work was completed, the customer reported the high quality of our work, efficient organization, high efficiency and discipline.
